Dry Needle Therapy

Helie Chiropractic

Helie Chiropractic is proud to offer Dry Needle Therapy as an effective, quick, and non-invasive therapy for patients suffering from myofascial, muscular, or chronic pain.

What is Dry Needle Therapy?

In Dry Needle Therapy, also known as Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), very thin needles are used to stimulate trigger points in your body and produce electrical stimulation– releasing the contracted muscles that cause pain. Dry Needle Therapy has been tested in multiple studies and found to be effective in treating:

  • Muscle pain

  • Myofascial pain

  • Chronic pain

  • Neuropathy

  • Neck pain

  • “Burning” or “Tingling”

In addition, Dry Needle Therapy can eliminate generalized muscle tension, speed healing after injury, improve blood flow, improve range of motion and strength, and can prevent future injuries.

Does it hurt?

In Dry Needle Therapy, very thin needles are inserted into a muscle’s trigger point (the “knot”). The experience differs by patient: some people feel nothing at all, while some people may experience what feels like a muscle “spasm” as the tight muscle contracts and then releases. In general, most healthy people do not report much discomfort with this technique and the benefits are enormous.

What can Dry Needle do for me?

Dry Needle Therapy releases tight muscles, providing immediate relief from pain– but its effects are long lasting. The tight muscles that cause you pain now also restrict joint movement and inhibit normal joint function, which can cause long term damage and result in tendonitis, osteoarthritis, and spinal pathologies. Addressing the immediate problem of these tight muscles with Dr. Helie now, through Dry Needle Therapy, can make a big difference in your future health.

Come into our Westminster office today, and find long-term relief from pain!
